Iphone 5s memory issue

Hello, can u please tell me why my new iphone 5s has 2.6 gb of messages taking up space even tho i have deleted all threads and there are no messages right now? In settings general, usage it says messages, then stored messages 2.6gb, but i deleted them all. I really need that space, any help is greatly appreciated. Thank u. I tried resetting settings but usage still says 2.6 gb used under messages. C
