Is anyone else experiencing a really annoying problem when making calls on their iPhone 5. At least 3 or 4 times a day I will make a call and the phone is silent but the other end will answer, the counter starts counting but neither of us can hear the other. No ringing tone at my end, nothing at all.

The phone isn't on silent and no Bluetooth devices are connected. If I hang up and call straight back it works as it should. I am not sure if it's a hardware fault or a network issue; I am on Three in the UK.

If anyone else has experienced this or knows of a solution please let me know.

Chris

It happens to me on occasions, but I chalk it up as network-related because it has happened on occasion with every device I've ever owned. When I say, "on occasions", I'm really saying that it is closer to "rarely", if that's makes sense.

I've seen this on more than just iPhones on Verizon in the US... it's likely network glitches... and trying a call again typically fixes this.

Yes Keith is right that initiated another call fixes it but I hate to be the damper on things but not once since i have owned my 4S for going on 2 years have I ever had this problem. Really weird but sorry no less that it has happened. I hope the answers you received today will help you.

This is not a specific problem to the iPhone...my sister's Galaxy S4 does it as well (as I observed over last weekend and she asked me if it ever happened to me, saying that it happens a couple times per week to her).

This has only happened to me a couple of times, but both of those times I wasn't using an iPhone at the time. So like others, I attribute it to network issues. Does it seem to be happening in the same spot, or regardless of where you are?
