iPhone 4 home button stuck and more

I have a iPhone 4 I got on launch day, and just tonight it was fine but then randomly started freaking out. I've been on jailbroken 4.1 for a long time running fine with nothing new installed except I did just update 12 app store apps right before I had problems. The home button wouldn't work, then I realized after trying to restart it that it was stuck since it went right into voice control mode. Then it also kept telling me there was an incompatible accessory plugged in and it would seem to "unplug and replug" itself because it would come up every minute or so. It's never been dropped or exposed to water, although I did notice that the dock connector moisture sensor is the just the slightest tint of pink but I can GUARANTEE it has never been exposed to anything other than humidity, but I imagine Apple will still say "F$#@ you, you're SOL." I tried restoring it (to 4.1) to see if that would do anything, and also so they wouldn't give me crap about it being jailbroken, but it gave me an error. Then I tried 4.2.1 and it still didn't work. Trying 4.3 now, but I imagine that won't work either.

I'm assuming it probably won't fix anything even if it does work, so I'm still probably going to take it to Apple and see what they say (probably that they won't do anything), in which case I'm going to open it up and see if I can do anything. Anyone have any other ideas?

Oddly it took about 10 tries, a different computer, and it only worked with 4.3 but I restored it and it seems fine now. The only thing I can think of is I tried updating 12 apps over wifi totaling almost 1GB (blame Infinity Blade) and it crashed and restarted during that process, and these problems started shortly after.

Anyone know if Apple shows any leniency with the moisture sensors on iPhones? I understand that Apple recently started looking further into laptops with tripped sensors because of false positives, but I don't know if that applies to iPhones as well.

I know somebody who just went to swap a 3GS under Apple Care extended warranty. The moisture sensors were pink due to condensation from the shower as she would leave her phone in the bathroom in case it would ring. The genius bar opened up the 3GS to make sure none of the stickers inside were set off and they were not. They gave her a new one. I would imagine they would do the same for the iPhone 4.

Yeah it's fine as long as they don't indicate that it's been doused or submerged completely. Also Apple just recently put out something that said that the moisture indicator would no longer be a reason that you would not get a replacement device.. U forget the specifics but yeah I think you're pretty good to go.

I would say though that you shouldn't mention it when you go in, and if they bring it up just swear up and down that it has never touched water.

Best of luck!

Home button sticking on iphone 4

I have had all 4 generations of the Iphone. Iphone 4 is the worst for home button sticking. Found a simple solution. Plug iphone into any Mac laptop or computer. Hold home button down until Voice Control comes on. Hit cancel and it will reset the home button! I paid $29.00 to applecare for no solution. They wanted me to buy another Iphone for $199.95...yeah, right! This solution will work. Thanks

Try to convince Apple to sell you one at a discounted rate.
