the iphone 2.0.2 software is out...just wonder if I update the software, will all the contacts / music / calendar will be automatically erased? As my contacts & music are saved in different computers, hence I dont want to risk any deletion of the content in my current 3g iphone.

thanks your advise.

Yes all that will be wiped out. It is going to do a backup and then after it installs the newest firmware will replace it from the backup file that it creates. So if you are on the machine that is not syncing contacts they will not get synced unless you change it to do so.

none of my stuff was erased. Even my applications kept their settings and saved games and lists, etc. I say install it and enjoy.

I am kind of upset, because all the problems that 2.0.1 fixed, came back when i updated to 2.0.2.. the keyboard lags, lock and unlock sounds are muted at random.. ahh!

Sad to say but all those issues you speak of existed in 2.0.1 as well. Try a restore and do NOT use your backup. Set up the iPhone as new. That helped with my issues. Others it does not work for though, so keep that in mind as well. May be worth a shot though.

Well, with 2.0.1, it really noticably fixed the keyboard lag, and the sound defects, and every application opened smoother without any stalling, at least thats what i experienced with 2.0.1, and then with 2.0.2, all those issues came back..So, i'm really hoping another update comes out to fix those issues indefinitely

Both 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 have these issues. 2.0.2 fixed a lot of these issues for many people including myself. 2.0.3 (if it happens) or 2.1 should hopefully fix these problems for everyone.
