iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max new display in bright sunlight

Has anybody tried their new iPhones in bright sunlight?

Apparently the 14 pro series can get significantly brighter than any other 2022 smartphone.

I used mine yesterday while I was outside in the sun…it’s really nice! Didn’t have to put my hand over the screen or anything to see.

Not going to be long, likely at best 10 minutes under modest usage. If you’re playing a hi def movie or especially a graphics intensive game, it is likely to be just a handful of minutes. But unless it is one of those deformed gaming smartphones with active cooling, no passively cooled phone will sustain high nits out in a direct hot summer sun. That’ll be true of other smartphones too.
Usage rule: personal electronics are not meant for more than relatively brief direct summer sun exposure. Direct summer sun just on a battery, especially one at 100% or only a few percent left, is no way to treat a battery (other parts/circuits unable to actively cool themselves and lower the temperature is no good either).

Haven’t been able to test out the new super bright display due to the current weather.

Glad to see some here are able to observe a noticeable difference.

You can really see how bright it gets by shining a decent flashlight on the sensor in the dynamic island. It will get crazy bright!

Well apparently it was measured and and in direct sunlight, high brightness mode has a peak brightness of 2,307 nits.
