iPad air words with frIends

I just got an iPad air. I got the words with friends app, but when I play it won't give me the preliminary score. I installed it more than once to see if that would make a difference, but it doesn't. I know the app does this because my mother just got an iPad 2 and we got the app for her also. Hers gives you the preliminary word score. We can even play each other but mine does not show me the possible score. Does anyone else have this issue? Thanks

I never really played the game but check to see if the app settings are the same on both iPads.

I don't play, but have you tried closing the app and rebooting the iPad.
