Lately I've been torn between getting a MacBook or the iPad Pro. The decision would have been easier had iOS support for having a software open in multiple pages. But this limitation has so far stopped me from going for the iPad. As I wrote in an earlier message, I find the MacOS UI outdated in the same way BlackBerry OS and Symbian became outdated as soon iOS hit. Any news on when Apple is going to eliminate this iOS limitation?

There are deep ahitectural differences amon iOS and macOS, and will take a loon lon time for iOS to get the back end features available on MacOS and required for some advanced stuff lik you mention, just to name one: FileLock/RecordLock and Sharing files among processes still MIA on iOS.

I tried using the Pro as a replacement and I just don't think it's possible yet, despite some of the advertisement behind the line. You'll likely need a MacBook.
