I updated my iphone 4 today and ever since, my signal for 3G and edge has been drastically reduced now I average about 1-2 bars and I know it's usually been better. Since the update it seems worse. I know the update was to fix how the bars were shown but dang I'm actually disappointed in the iPhone for the first time. Anyone else have this issue?

well from what i understand your signal quality i guess is what you would call it should not be affected you should just be seeing your true signal strength after the update.

I guess but the overall signal seems just worse I mean, I find it hard to believe that my signal strength is that poor.

My signal is terrible now since the update. I live in the St. Louis area and have always had 5 bars on 3G since the original iphone. Now i'm lucky to get 4 if i am outside on a clear day. When i go inside it is 2 or 3 tops. I am frequently dropping calls and having very poor quality. It sounds like people are in their car on blue tooth for every conversation. It was a lot better before the software update!! I am not happy at all with the phone or service after 4.0.1

4.0.1 didn't do anything to the signal other than show you the "actual" bars you have vs the bars that the iPhone ( since the beginning ) was showing you.

Well speaking for myself the call quality on the i4 is noticably worse than previous models. And as far as bars go. If I can't get 5 outside in st Louis then something is wrong. I think apple has tweaked the code to hide the affects of the death grip.

I think you're right. I live near Sacramento and I always had 5 bars and good call quality but it has gone down since the update and I wouldn't doubt if they are simply hiding the real signal.
