Anyone having problems with Bluetooth Stack, handsfree and Siri?

I connect to my car system in both a BMW x5 and a Mini Cooper. I cannot activate hands free calling by using “Hey Siri” or y holding the button on the steering wheel. Using my Airpod Pros to activate handsfree dialing is unreliable at best. Siri often will hang without doing anything. Other audio apps seem to stream fine for the most part, but do freeze up from time to time requiring me to repair or reboot my iPhone

My experience with betas is that these bugs get worked out quickly. Has anyone else encountered issue?

Initiating a call or text message using button on the steering wheel of my BMW is working as it should with CarPlay and the new iOS 16 Dev Beta.

In fact, the only CarPlay issue I had was it not displaying entirely on the screen after I first installed iOS 16, but a reboot took care of the problem and it has not happened since.

Neither vehicle is CarPlay. My x5 was built 6 months too early. Neither “hey siri” nor a long hold of the voice activation button works.

I’ll be heading to fill up the tank soon with that being said, I will disable CarPlay and use the native Infotainment system like I do periodically. I’ll long press the button on the steering wheel and see if it activate Siri like it always did prior to installing iOS 16 and then I’ll get back to you.

Did you have an opportunity to test handsfree? I’ve had to drive a couple hundred miles each day of this past week. To save on gas, I been driving my wife’s 2018 Mini Clubman and the handsfree was entirely unusable. This is the first time I regret installing a beta. I’d go back to the 15.6, but my iPhone is paired to my watch that has the WatchOS 9 beta installed, and my understanding is that it will work only if iOS 16 is installed on my phone. I was hoping that a new beta would be out addressing my problem, but as of today I’m still SOL.

I did find thus, so I may not be alone: https://iphonearena.com/fix-bluetooth-not-working-on-ios-16/

Yes I did and I’m sorry for not replying before now. With that being said, Nothing happened when I pressed the option on my steering wheel - meaning I was unable to call up Siri with it like I was prior to installing the beta. Yet, when I verbalized, “Hey Siri”, my iPhone did respond, but not when I pressed the option on the steering wheel.

No worries. We all are busy. I cannot even use “hey Siri” on my phone when it’s connected to my car Audi system. The phone stalls out with the Siri circle displaying. I end up having to do a hard reset on my iPhone and/or deactivating and reactivating the BT connection on my car. This happens on both my 2016 X5 and my 2018 mini (which is a BMW). So it has to be an issue with BMW’s BT. Hopefully it will be resolved soon.

Maybe. This issue has only occurred with iOS 16 a at least that’s the case with me. We’ll see if the next dev beta solves the problem.

UPDATE: I want to reiterate the above occurs when NOT USING CarPlay.

As for your Audi, my lady has a 2018 Audi A3 and she is also running iOS 16 on her iPhone. I will test in her car later this evening when I get off work.

Is anyone using Square? If so can you confirm if it’s working. My wife uses it for business and wants to try the Beta. Thanks in advance.

One thing I did notice.... in the ESPN app, the video did not center properly when trying to watch fullscreen in landscape. It worked properly before installing the beta.

I, too, have noticed this behavior with the ESPN app. I’m sure it’ll be corrected in an upcoming update.

With my iPhone 12 only issue really noticed was having to charge it 2 times a day vs not having to. It definitely speed unlocked. Performance vs battery.
