iOS 16.2 could put Apple News in the Weather app so it can tell you it's too hot twice

Something else I don’t want, that will no doubt be heralded as an upgrade, good job I don’t use Apple weather.

I’m running iOS 16.2 and the content is already present. You have to scroll down to see it. I can already see that the way it’s currently implemented, it won’t bother me at all because I’ll rarely see it.

News+ is a fantastic and under-appreciated product but I hope weather app settings can eliminate it from that view. Important things from Dark Sky are in the weather app but are already too much tedium to get at it.

Accuweather, for example, has a "Top Stories" section where the articles are all weather related. Maybe the upcoming 16.2 feature will be similar.

Looks like they're trying to boost viewership of Apple News. I don't use it.

Could be but I wouldn’t overlook the additional answer that it is simply a revenue generating ad space. Apple is well behind peers when it comes to ad revenue. While this is something Apple seemingly is determined to remedy, their use of nearly all anonymized data hinders that revenue per ad potential. They are not going to be able to generate revenue per ad at the same rate Google, Amazon, Microsoft. Very Hopefully that doesn’t translate to ads jammed into every stock Apple app.
