Since updating to the above I have noticed a marked lag in the opening of various apps on my 2017 iPad. The Verge and Kindle being the most noticeable culprits, I know that this usually happens as a device moves further away from the IOS version it was issued with, but I am disappointed that my iPad gen three is at the moment faster than my gen five ! This is a thing that I am sure Apple will not want to address but it is tiresome.

Have you tried reinstalling the applications?

I haven’t seen any major slowdowns occur on my iPad Air (don’t know what generation I’m on).

Used to be this was true with older devices. Not so much anymore. At least not with iPhones. I have no issues at all with iOS 14 on my 6s Plus.

Also consider that several apps still have to do updates ( many came in 'fast & furious' in the week before iOS 14 was released and are still more or less coming as a plethora. That in itself might 'kick the cobwebs' out of a few existing apps

I have the iPad Pro 2nd generation 12.9 screen 256 Gb storage and the applications are opening as they should with out any hesitation. This iPad was also born in 2017.
