Internet with another carrier

Hi everybody, I have a 3GS unluck phone (Version 4.0 and Modem Firmware 05.13.04) and I would like to know if anybody knows how to manually edit the cellular data settings so I can use the internet on my phone with Simple Mobile network (LA area) or how do I do it to get internet with that carrier (I want to get the plan that includes the unlimited data), but the guy that works there told me, that he didn't know how to put the settings for the cellular data. Thanks in advance for your help.
