Since the IOS10 update to our iPhones, we no longer can our old macbook recognize our iPhones. So I would like to install windows on my macbook to see if that will work. Anyone done this? What is needed?

I personally never done this simply because i need the RAM and storage space for my work.

Have a look into BootCamp, that would be the best way to accomplish this (in my opinion).
Windows 10 also has a couple minimum requirements.

2 GB RAM - but 4 GB is recommended,
with a dual core processor and 20 GB of free space but 50 GB is recommended if you intend loading anything on the partition. (section of the hard drive)

Have a look at this video, it might help uo out a bit.
