Info Overload.. sync outlook to google and then the iphone?

Hi, It is my first post here and I appreciate all of the information so far.
I use my work Outlook 2007 for calendar, contacts and mail (not exchange). I will be syncing the contacts and calendar information from outlook to my iphone but am looking for the best method.

I have found a few bits of info that have me questioning what the best method actually is.

Should I sync outlook calendar and contacts to google and then sync that to the iphone?

I want to have to rely LESS on coming back to the work computer and syncing.

I am hoping that there will be an easy OTA option to keep google and iphone synced and then have an easy option of syncing it all back to Outlook..

Am I living in a fantasy world or is this able to happen?

My personal recommendation would be to use CompanionLink. It will sync your Outlook to Google.
