in messages does a member of family sharing know that I have located them?

When using the messaging you can see when someone is replspindibg to you. Does the same occurrence apply when I am using the "details" feature to track their location?

No they can't see when you're checking their location but why does it matter?

Welcome to iMore! If you have "read receipt" toggled on in Settings > Messages, then yes if you open the messages app they can see you have read their text. But I doubt they could know you were viewing their location. I'm not sure. I never use that. You can toggle "read receipt" off. Maybe someone else can shed more light than I.
