How do I stop the music being on my notification area or lock screen if the music is not playing? I'm used to music thing just going away if there's no music being played. Thanks.

It usually goes away after a while. But recently, it seems to stay. Sometimes it comes back after being swiped out of multitasking. Probably a bug. Hoping the next OS update fixes it.

you swipe up the notification bar and turn it off or go into the settings to turn it off, I also changed the way it's notified
but i want it on when using music. I've gone into settings and even turned off notification and such all together for music and it persisted.

By the way, there's no such thing as "iMusic". It's either Music or Apple Music. Apple stopped the "i" on new stuff years ago.

Be sure you have any song in your music app turned off. It should go away after swiping it out of multitasking. At least for a while. Does for me. If the next OS update doesn't fix it, I'm gonna report it.

It's not something I can swipe away. :(

Yes you can swipe the music app away.
You just have to swipe it away from the task switcher and not from the notification screen.
