Secure messaging. Calendar sharing. Buddy invitations. File sharing. Location sharing. Collaboration within groups. 3rd-party application extensibility. Creation of messaging groups. Ability to save message drafts. Yeah, there's more.

I'm guessing you've never used BBM. iMessage isn't even offering a subset of BBM's features, and I'm an iOS fan. But, I ported over from BBs - BBM is the ONLY service I really miss, and I'd pay to get an iOS port of BBM, even a subscription.

Not that Apple is passing on to developers. IMO, Apple still needs to work on implementing XMPP a bit more smoothly before they take on RIM and their patent portfolio.

Same a bbm, it's pointless, especially seen as pretty much all contracts come with unlimited texts

But it uses Internet instead of cellular connection. And you can text iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches.

Anyone who hasn't used bbm before doesn't know what they are missing . I love my iPhone and wouldn't go back to bb but would be great to have iMessage like bbm some day. Makes for such a better social experience

When I had my bb I used BBM maybe 5 times, i didn't see the point of opening a whole new app to talk to just a couple of people. I like how iMessage is now, do not want a separate app
