iMessage prevents some SMS being delivered to non iPhone users

Hi, a friend stopped using an iPhone and my phone won't recognise that the number is no longer able to use iMessage. If I have iMessage on, my texts to that person don't arrive although I still receive them. I've done all the obvious things like turning iMessage off and texting my friend and then switching it back on, turning phone on and off etc, deleting the contact and then rendering it but all to no avail. I would appreciate any assistance - thanks

I just switched from an iPhone and my wife couldn't send me messages! After doing all the things that you mentioned, it seems the fix was simply her not having the "send as text" or whatever it's called option turned on in the messaging settings! Also have your friend reset his/her Apple ID password for an added level of security in resolving the issue!
