As the title asks what do you own if Apple MAC and what? If you have both a desktop and laptop, Is there a reason for both?

I have both. The old school me still likes having a desktop. The geek in me likes the portability of the macbook

I've got my rMBP 15" and an i7 Mac Mini. I wasn't in the market for a desktop but when I found it on sale at Best Buy for $375 I couldn't pass it up.

I have a seven year old Macbook and a 2013 iMac. The former I haven't powered on since getting the latter. No more laptops for me. I'd just get an iPad.

Multiple. I have a 2012 15" rMPB. Wife has a 2011 21" iMac. We also have a 2012 Mac Mini used as a media server to iPads, iPhones and AppleTVs.

People like desktop computers because you (typically) can get more power for less money. Plus, you can connect a big monitor for things like Adobe and large spreadsheets. And with the Mac mini, for example, you can bring your own mouse and keyboard.
Then, of course, there's the portability of a laptop.

Desktop. I keep both a desktop and a laptop but I haven't acquired a Macbook yet. Was going to be this year until I had some health issues and my discretionary money all got blown on bills. For now I use a chromebook. Remoting into my Mini works very well when I'm on the road.

With the direction they've taken the Mac Mini though, I may have purchased my last desktop from them. Without the ease of end-user modifications, I'd rather just put all my money into a really high-end laptop.

I have a MacBook Pro. The one I'm using is from 2009. I have not upgraded because I rarely use my computer anymore, with 99% of what I do being accomplished on my iPhone or iPad. The only thing I use my Mac for anymore is paying bills and other activities I need to keep records from.

I have a Late 2013 MacBook Pro Retina 13". Thinking about getting an iMac for the kids though.
