If you change the hard drive in the non-retina MacBook Pro by yourself, will it void the warranty?

iMore Question

I'm just not happy anymore with the traditional HDs and the retina MacBooks are beyond my budget.

I don't think so... If it concerns you, you could always have an Apple GeniusBar do it for you... or Apple Authorized Service Center.

Afaik, the hard drive and RAM are considered user replaceable parts on the non-retina MBP. Replacing the DVD player with a second hard drive as lots of people do will void the warranty.

I have always upgraded hard drives and ram on mbps, it does not void warranty. but contacting apple care would put your mind at ease.
