if i back up all my photos to i cloud , will that save me space on my storage

i have reached almost full capacity of space on my i pone 4 by backing up all photos and videos to i cloud . will i gain space on my storage ?
and as result of doing so will i regain storage space on my phone.

No. It will not.

But if you back them up to a third party cloud service such as OneDrive or Dropbox or Box.net and then delete them from your device, that will save space on the device.
