iCloud Email Security?

Is the iCloud email server (@me) a pretty safe email provider? When compared to Gmail, Outlook, etc? I just feel like it's security is not the same and would like things like 2-step authentication. Thanks for the info.

I can't imagine it's any more or less secure than anyone else. Google only recently added 2 step authentication. Apple assumes you will access your iCloud email from your Apple device - which automatically gives you that 2nd step if you have a password on your device.

Regarding the support article above, it shows that mail and notes are not stored using encryption on iCloud servers, but everything else is. That's strange. They're both stored using IMAP...would that have to do with why this is not the case? That's a bit disconcerting.
