iCloud and syncing contacts

Hi, everyone. I was wondering how iCloud with sync with the Mac Address book. Specifically, I was wondering if you would be able to sync the Mac Address book with Gmail contacts (this feature currently syncs) and have that sync with iPhone and iPad. I am considering buying an iPhone and my contacts currently sync between Gmail and my Mac Address Book. It would nice to have them sync to an iPhone as well. Thanks for any help.

You can have the Gmail contacts sync to the phone if you setup your email as Exchange. So you're halfway there already and wouldn't need to do anything special as long as your contacts are already in Google.
