i have to take it back to india. and the model no A1778 which is a GSM version works in india. i wanted to know that if i oreder on the apple online store in singapore, that i will be getting the unlocked GSM version and not the CDMA?

Yes generally speaking when bought directly from Apple you are getting an unlocked phone. You might want to double check prior to purchase and also make sure that you get the model that has the correct frequencies for your country, although most likely (if the 7 is like the 6s) you should be fine, as it was mostly 1 model fits all. (except for size variations)
