I want to export the backup of my iphone to another mac or an external hard drive

I did a backup of my iPhone 6 on my mac but while i am trying to restore the backup to my 6s it shows that the iTunes i am running on cannot connect to the iPhone and if i check updates for iTunes it shows that it is the current version which is the latest
