I want my text messages to show up on my ipad 2 air. Worked in the Apple

i was told that text messages (sent & received) from my iphone 5c would also show up on my ipad2 Air. The texts are not showing up on my ipad. The Apple user id and password are the same on both devices. iMessage is turned on in settings along with send & receive, etc. in both devices and the Apple id and password are the same on both devices. It worked while in the apple store today when the ipad was purchased but hasn't since. Help
