I-Pod, I-Pad, MP-3 Player or what ?

My 9 yr old granddaughter wants a device to listen to music on. She got a cheaper version of an I-Pad last year for Christmas but was not taken care of. Don't know if it was her fault or not as there are 3 other children as well ages 13, 12 , and 5. I do want to surprise her but not sure what to get. I think she would be responsible, but she has to put up with a lot. Any suggestions out there ?
