I just updated my iPad 2 with the latest update and it has nothing but a black screen, what happened?

I just updated my Ipad 2 with the latest update and it has nothing but a black screen;

it will not even give me a screen to unlock

I have tried to manually turn it on with the little switch, but it makes no difference. It has been plugged in all day and still nothing. Is it dead?

Did you try to reboot the iPad? Hold the power and home button together until the apple logo shows.
