I have the current version of iTunes but can't sync to my iPhone 6, what should I do?

i have the current version of itunes but can't sync to iphone 6

When i connect the iphone 6 to windows 10 machine with the current version of itunes there is a prompt that says i need a newer version of itunes and itunes doesn't list iphone as a device.

Re-download and install iTunes again as well as reboot your iPhone.

I would uninstall iTunes then reinstall iTunes just to make sure you have the most up to date version.
