I have an iPhone 4S and would like to switch its carrier.

Hey! My friend is in a really bad place right now, and they need a working cell phone. Their phone is an older Samsung cell, and the 9 key has become irreparably sticky, rendering the phone unusable since it auto-speed-dials me when they turn the phone on. That's beside the point, though. I have an iPhone 4S that I'm not using that I'd like to give to them to use, that's currently updated to iOS7 and has not been jailbroken. My carrier is Verizon, and theirs is AT&T. Is it possible to switch my iPhone 4S to AT&T for them to use?

If you can get Verizon to unlock it for you, it *may* work on AT&T's network.

The 4S should be fine to use with AT&T. My Verizon 4S was factory unlocked when I bought it and I'm assuming that's the case for them all.

The Verizon iPhone 4s, if unlocked, will only work with GSM carriers outside North America. It will not work on AT&T.

I think it was starting with the first LTE iPhone (the 5) that the Verizon ones were also unlocked for use in the US.

The iPhone 4s is only unlockable by Verizon for international use. The Verizon iPhone5 and above are unlocked and can be used domestically.
