I have an ipad 2 mini and am not able to edit any of the calendar events.

I am able to add events but not "edit". The contact list entered birthdays correctly but I entered birthdays manually on the same date for the same person. When I asked for help editing the calendar I could not find "edit" at the top of the screen.
Please help a novice learning to use and sync the ipad 2 mini!
My iphone 6 synced my contact list and calendar with only a few minor problems.

You have to first select the event you want to edit and then select "edit".
