i have an i4. I keep getting a gray text box . How do I get rid of it!?

After I send the initial message i get a gray box with timer

That's the audio text feature. It's activicated by pressing the mic on the right side of the text box. Swipe the messages app out of multitasking. That works. (App Switcher)
