I have a new ipad air. I recieve e-mails sent to the email account I've had for years on my PC,

My son set this iPad up for me. my wife and I both receive e-mails on our PC and on the iPad that are sent to the e-mail address I've had for years. No problem there. However when we try to reply, or send a new e-mail it wont send unless we send it through iCloud, this confuses my friends as they don't know which is my e-mail address - xxx@shaw.ca or xxx@icloud. How can i get the iPad to send via my regular account?

Settings>> Mail, Contacts, Calendars>>> scroll to default account... tap that, select the account you want to use as the default...
