I found an I-phone 6splus on vacation. Can I reset it to use for myself?

iMore Question

If it has been locked and reported lost is there still a way to use it before throwing it away?

Probably not. Or you can turn it in to the police and be nice about it. Since its no use to you why throw it away?

I recommend you to insert your own cellular data enabled SIM card in it and power up the phone.

If the owner has Find My iPhone enabled, he will have most likely sent a message and wipeout request to the phone.

If you see such a message, contact the rightful owner and return the phone to him.

If no such luck, then go to the nearest police station and give the phone to them.

These are your only two options.

You can't reset it to use for yourself. I would try to find the owner of the phone and return it to them.
