I Don't Understand iCloud

I still can't figure out what I can do with this icloud thing. We get 5 gigs of space, so does that mean we can upload 5 gigs of music and then stream it to our phone? Or something else?

I looked for answers on this but all the info out there just repeats how awesome icloud is and that you can redownload music you've purchased, etc. But are there other practical applications? If so- what are they?

icloud can push ur pics and songs u took or downloaded with one device to other devices u might own. and also it can keep a backup of all your app and user datas. and some other stuffs which i dont really understand myself. point is, i believe it will come handy to people who uses multiple ios devices

But aren't my apps and stuff already backed up? I mean I can already re-download any app I want, so how is this service an improvement? I guess sharing between devices is good, but beyond that- I can't see the point.
