I don't have the automatic option for Night Shift

After upgrading to iOS 9.3, I only get the option of a scheduled or manual Night Shift mode. I tried disabling and enabling "Setting Time Zone" in the Location Services, restarted my iPhone several times, but can't seem to be able to get the automatic option show up. Any clues?

The automatic feature is activated only in the Scheduled mode. As the name says it 'automatically' changes the colour at the scheduled times.

If you're already toggled that (maybe try a reboot?) try checking

Settings -> General -> Date & Time

Do you have it on Automatic?

Did you go Settings > Display and Brightness > Night Shift > Toggle Scheduled > From/To > then check Sunset to Sunrise?

You have to have Location Based Services turned on, and Night Shift enable to use Location Based Services.

so this will drain your battery quicker

Minimally. If you're concerned about battery drain just keep location services enabled for a few apps that need it. The majority of apps can be set for "Never" or "While Using App".
