When I downloaded IOS 10 on my wife’s iPhone 6 I didn’t use the Touch ID setup and now it is not available in her settings. Can I get this option back? The same is true on her IPAD. I know stupid right. Can you help?

It should be there in Settings.
See screenshot.
If it doesn’t show up for your wife’s iPhone, your best bet would be to restore the device.

I looked there previously but all it says is passcode. I omitted to use the passcode when I downloaded IOS 10 and now it is not an option. That’s my problem.

I’m not even going to start with how important it is to protect your device with a passcode. Just think about what information someone who gets their hands on your iPhone has access to when it isn’t protected.

Well thanks anyway. I can’t get my point across. I didn’t set up Touch ID and now it isn’t available anywhere in settings. I have the pass code set up but Touch ID is not there and I can’t load what isn’t in the software.

What device do you have. Some of them don't have a fingerprint reader. You need that or it won't list a fingerprint option.

Are you sure that your device has Touch ID? Can you confirm what device do you really have?

I have and iPad 2 and an iPad 4

Confusing as to why your OP talks about an iPhone 6??

The iPad 2 does not have Touch ID.
There's no iPad 4. There is, however, an iPad (4th generation). It doesn't have Touch ID either.

Here are the models that have Touch ID.

"You can use Touch ID with an iPhone 5s or later, iPad (5th generation), iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, or iPad mini 3 or later."

Here's how to identify what iPad model you have.
