iMore Question

If I launch Steam my 2009 MBP just freezes. Just 2 days ago it worked like a gem and since then no damage has been done to the laptop. No fluid, no physical contact, I haven't even moved it from the desk.

As I said, everything else works beautifully. What can I do?

I already checked the hard drive with CMD+R -> showed no damage. Also, I tried reinstalling Steam but it did me no good, laptop freezes every time.

I'm truly shocked, none of this make sense for me. What about you?

What OS version are you running on your 2009 MBP and is the app version you’re trying to use compatible with that particular OS version? Please join the iMore Forums to reply in this thread. Thank you.

I'm using El Capitan and of course it's compatible because, AS I SAID, 2 days ago it worked well. No updates since then.

However! Removing the ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/ folder and restarting Steam solved the problem.

Thanks for your time!
