I am using iphone 6 plus. Whatsapp messages not delivering

Instantly when the phone is idle for more than few minutes in screen off position. I have set the screen lock to never. When turn on whatsapp all messages delivered. what settings need to change to get messages online.
I have set to display up to 10 messages in screen lock
