I am considering a second hand mac book pro or air and wondered if anyone can give me some guidance.

Really at the moment I only do some word processing, listening to music and surfing the web.
My Lenovo think pad is pretty much at the end of its life. I also use ipad and iphone.
But I really want to be able to make better movies for youtube as some of the imovies features on Iphone8 plus are a bit limited.
Can you advise on buying let's say a 3-5-year-old machine as the saving is quite considerable?

I would NOT purchase a MacBook Air or Pro earlier than a 2015 model. A MacBook Air with at least 8 GBs of RAM should be all you need, in my opinion.
