Does anyone else have a problem with Hulu failing to load some images in the menu. Like when cycling through shows, etc? I thought I would escape this infernal nonsense when I replaced my Roku HD.

Yes, but it's not annoying to me because it doesn't happen often. And when it does it fixes itself quickly. I do want the issue resolved though.

I wouldn't hold my breath because I've had my Roku over almost 2 years and they never bothered to fix it there, either.

You're probably right. I have my Roku for three years and the app got worse with each update. I stopped using it altogether. The experience was much better on my tv 3.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the ATV. Its night/day difference performance wise, compared to my Roku HD. Roku should've just added a dedicated reboot button to the remote. It was slow and froze on me quite a few times a week on me. It also got hot as hell, which I think contributed to the freezing problem. There is no excuse for something like a Roku generating that mush heat simply streaming Hulu/Netflix. They must use bottom barrel cpus manufactured on outdated large dies. They can add that stupid cloth tab to the remote/box, but not a single ventilation hole?

I've heard the Roku 3 doesn't have these problems, but no personal experience. Actually been thinking about returning the ATV and getting a Roku 3. Again happy with ATV, but @ $160 taxes included, it was a lot to pay for something to stream Netflix/Hulu on. No interest in buying games or apps, just watching TV/Movies. Also have concerns about the long term durability of the remote (In my house) and they want over half the cost of a whole ATV setup to replace it.

I'm so with you on the Roku. Not having a restart setting is why I had to get an tv 3. I have a disability and I can't unplug it when it freezes. And as you know it locks up often. I'm so glad I got mine free because I'd never pay for it knowing all of its flaws . I still, to this day, have no idea why they put a stupid tag on the remote!!! Who thought that was a good idea? And why weren't they immediately fired?

I love the tv 4. But it is lot of money. I, too, am worried about the remote. I know it will get dropped on my wood floor by everyone but me. I can't wait for cases to come out for it. If for no other reason than to cover the aluminum. That thing gets so cold. It slipped between my covers and touched my bare leg and I almost lost all composure. If I wasn't going to keep my tv 4 I'd go with the 3. That way you still have to option to AirPlay and the Hulu experience is better IMO.

I decided to just hang onto it since it's paid for. Sometimes I over think things and end up making stuff more complicated than need be.

Touching on the remote again, I really hate that it's so thin. It's a pain to grab it off a table. Apple needs to realize thin doesn't always = premium. I refuse to buy a case for a remote and resent them for even creating a market for one. Hopefully they release a new app to allow iPhones to control the ATV.

I think you've made the good decision. It is a lot of money, but it's still a great device. I wouldn't want to go back to the 3. I am gonna have my Roku plugged back in though. I use it a backup device in case a channel launches there first. As off right now I don't have any channels installed on it because every channel I watch is either on the tv or I can AirPlay it. I'm hoping Starz and TNT are working on their channels. They have iOS apps. Although TNT doesn't support AirPlay natively, but you can mirror your device and it works that way. Starz supports AirPlay natively and they have an app on Roku so that gives me hope that they will update their app for tv.

As for the remote you are so right. It's so awkward to hold. It doesn't feel natural at all. I'm getting used to it though. I also think it's too thin. I'm hoping there will be plenty of Chinese knock off cases so I won't have to spend much money. Although my mom said she will buy the case for me because she knows she's gonna drop while handing it to me. I'm the only one who uses the tv since it's in my bedroom and not in the living room. I'm worried about Christmas though. My sister is Queen of the butter fingers. When my mom had foot surgery my sister came home to take care of both of us. None of my iPhones had been dropped as often as my 5 had been in the 2 weeks she was home. And I've had every iPhone except for the original and 5c. I chose my cases wisely so my 5 didn't sustain any damage.

I also just want a case so it's easier to hold. The ergonomics need improving. The one thing I do like about the remote is when playing games that have you turn the remote to landscape it reminds me of my NES days. I was 6, my sister was 15 years old and my dad got me one for my birthday. If only Nintendo would make games for iOS and tvOS.

I really hope  either updates the remote app or makes a new one. Searching for anything on YouTube is completely ridiculous!
