How to unload HD on MacBook Air

Did you back up the HD on your Mac? If so, then yes, you will have even less space than you had previously. If you've backed up your HD to an external disk, try rebooting the Mac to see if it empties the cache or displays a more reasonable storage space size. Fell free to start completely over by reinstalling OS X. That is what I would do under the circumstances.

I just backed up my Mac but HD is still almost full

Making a backup will not affect the contents of your hard drive, except to safeguard them by providing you with an additional copy of them. To free up space on your hard drive, you need to delete stuff.
