How to save ONLY ONE sms conversation to iCloud

I’d like to only preserve the texts between my wife and I (I’ve kept them since we met). The rest I’d like to set to auto delete every 30 days. Can anyone help me make an exception to the auto delete tule for one text message thread? Any other ways I can achieve this?

I think the only way to achieve the goal would be to copy and paste the message thread between you and your wife. You cannot selectively just save one conversation to iCloud.

You can't force iCloud to do that. TO preserve a chat you'd have to use a 3rd party app like iMazing, Anytrans, or iPhone Backup Extractor. They will require you to make a full backup of your device to be able to extract the info, some information is able to pull straight from iCloud.
