How to save my iMessages on my MacBook to a Hard Drive/Storage Unit? [MACBOOK]

I

iMore Question

My StartUp disk is becoming full and it's because I hoard my messages, now I want to save them on a hard drive, but I want them in a readable form with attachments (pictures, vids, etc.). Is it possible to convert the iMessages to a PDF format with contact names, etc?
What's the best way I could do this?

One last thing, if I transfer ~/Library/Messages files to a hard drive and transfer it to another macbook would I be able to see my old chat logs again? Is this safe? I might plan to just keep the ~/Library/Messages files stored in a hard drive instead.

Thanks in advance!!

If you are using a Mac, you can try, for each conversation/chat, "printing" it into a PDF file, and save it on your HD. I'm unsure if also files like pictures are included.
