How to remove gray oval over the text field with the 0:00 in it on my iPhone 6s

Using messages. When I go to text I can not see under the gray oval that covers the text box I would like to type in it and see the words under it. The oval has a 0:00 in it on the far right.

Click the x in the grey oval or hit the microphone to the right of the oval.

Go to settings> Messages and turn on the "show subject field". Open up messages to verify it is gone, then you can turn it back off if you want to and the gray oval will stay gone. It worked for me at least.

Turn off the "raise to listen" in message settings
