How to organize photos with your iPhoto i so they are all in the same albums?

I have thousands of photos which i have downloaded from the internet or via dropbox on my computer. I also have thousands in I-Photo downloaded from my phone. I have put all of the photos in i-photo into albums and would like to place the other photos on my downloads in albums too in the same place. How can I do that in bulk? Why are they not saved in the one place? I tried to click on a photo in downloads and sent it to i-photo but it did not move there. Plus it would take forever to do these individually when I could group them into albums in bulk. Thanks in advance
