Can you post one that you feel is a bad photo and we can give recommendations? Usually it is movement that can ruin a good photo.

Take a test photo by resting your phone on a table and taking a picture of something while you are in a well lit area. See if it looks like it's in good quality. This will narrow down if it's an issue with your phone, or if you are just moving the phone to much while taking a photo

The secret is in the zoom! Really though, i don't know why this is, but it seems the 4S takes better pictures when the zoom is used even a little.

I have been very happy with the camera so far, but have noticed blurred areas of many photos (even in very bright conditions). Mainly these are outside of the autofocus area and I'm fairly certain they are related to the 2.4 aperture opening. A larger lens opening results in a shallower depth of field, and most of the blurred areas in my photos are in the background.

Not sure if this is what you are experiencing, but I have been curious as well.
