I am very new to iphones so this may sound odd. I am trying to do this correctly but find myself not being able to start the process. I cannot power my iphone 7 Plus off. It makes sense to have the phone off, is there any way around doing that? I tried to run out the battery and thought i should ask some questions first.
My phone has the itunes screen on. I was able to connect to itunes and try to do a restore. After getting error 9006 I was able to turn off firewalls and start over. Finally, i thought, this is actually going to work. The files downloaded and then extracted. Much to my surprise i got a new error message saying that itunes cannot recognize my device.
In search of a fix for my new dilemma I ended up here.
I am doing everything I can to avoid going to the apple store. Is there anything I can do? I don't know if I need to provide any additional information about my phone to get help here but i would like to try.
Thank you for your time

Let's start from scratch.

1. Are you using a Mac or a PC?
2. Have you installed the latest version of iTunes on the computer?
3. Can you tell us the current iOS version running on the iPhone 7?
4. Which iOS version are you trying to install?
5. Can you reboot the iPhone 7?
6. Can you put the iPhone 7 in recovery mode? If so, can you restore your device via recovery mode?
