With the release of iOS 6 I've been wanting to upgrade my 3GS from the current iOS 5.1.1 to the iOS 6.

If I were to go ahead with the upgrade but ended up not liking it or making my iPhone slow and such, how could I go back to the previous version?

Thanks for any replies.

Yes you can. Download iOS 5 and connect to iTunes and hold shift while clicking restore and chose iOS 5. That's should work.

look into saving your 5.1.1 SHSH blobs to continue going back to 5.1.1 even after stops signing that firmware

Downloaded TinyUmbrella and tried saving the SHSH file. This is the log. What exactly does this mean?

Under the advanced tab select "save all available SHSH" and deselect "Request shsh from Cydia" then restart TinyUmbrella, and hit save shsh, it won't store them on Cydia but it will store them locally. TinyUmbrella can only save blobs that are currently being signed.

Ok, I followed your instructions and got the following. Under Saved SHSHs for my iPhone this is what is listed:

iPhone3GS 4.1 (8B117)
iPhone3GS 6.0gm (10A403)

Does the above mean I can restore to the above two iOS versions?
