If my MBP gets stolen, first thing I'll do is change my password on my Apple ID so that if the person that stole it is able to log into it, the credentials will be wrong and they will get the credential prompt:

However, I also have Find My Mac already set up so once I mark it as stolen, when someone powers it on and connects to wifi, I'll get a GPS location email.

I can already hear the police sirens now. :)
